Pedro Antonio, was born on November 29, 1886 in a humble family, after a childhood and youth dedicated to helping their parents in family businesses (grazing and selling water). At the age of 17, he began to attend the Pulpí public school, where he observed his exceptional talent for drawing, the promoter of the school, Emilio Zurano Muñoz, a famous lawyer, publicist and literary pulpileño living in Madrid who decided to help the young artist, welcoming him under his protection.

Present in almost all major exhibitions held in Madrid since 1917, Pedro Antonio Martinez went to America in 1930 and, after a tour of various cities in the South, exhibited in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires. In 1932, following the advice of López Mezquita, he settled in New York.
